which have the ability to absorb aqueous liquid
many times their own weight by forming a gel.
Even under pressure the liquid is retained.

– first produced in the early 1970s in Japan and the US
– first introduced into feminine hygiene pads in 1979 (Japan, USA)
– first used in baby diapers in 1980 (Uni Charm, Japan)

– first used in adult incontinence pads in 1987 (Molnlycke)
